Class levels

Level 0 - No experience required!
Level 1 - You've taken intro to sewing OR you're comfortable setting up a sewing machine and using it to make a straight                       stitch and are ready for your next project
Level 2 - You've made a 1-3 small projects and want to learn garment and quilt making basics
Level 3 - You've made a handful of small - medium sized projects and are ready for a more complex project
Level 4 - You've made a few garments and are comfortable working with sewing patterns

Rework It: Collage Gather Top

Class Description

This class is part of our Rework It series, where we use secondhand and reclaimed textiles to create unique new garments, bags, and quilts. Make a simple and cute top with gathered sides! The pattern has two options for sleeve length: View A uses a simple cuff and View B has a 3/4 gathered sleeve. Check out the hashtag #collagegathertop on Instagram for inspiration for this versatile pattern! In this class students will learn: -How to understand a pattern and make simple adjustments based on your measurements -How to finish seams with pinking or a zigzag stitch -How to gather fabric -How to use bias binding to face a neckline -How to use bias binding to bind a sleeve (View B) -How to hem a garment Materials needed: - Collage Gather Top pattern from Matchy Matchy Sewing Club - See pattern website for fabric yardage. Bring woven fabrics such as button up shirts, vintage curtains, or leftover quilting cotton. You must purchase the pattern for this class. Please bring your prewashed fabric and printed pattern to class. A0 printing is available at the studio.
