Intro to Sergers

$88-$125 | 3hrs | Ages 16+

Prerequisite: Intro to Sewing II OR equivalent skill level

Class Description:

Learn all about the serger! You’ll get to know how a serger works and when to use it, practice techniques on woven and knit fabric, learn how to thread the machine, and make your first project! Students will make a drawstring bag during class using only the serger.

Students are welcome to bring their own serger from home, but we cannot guarantee that we will be able to help thread the machine or troubleshoot any problems. Be sure to also bring the manual when bringing a machine in to the studio

Optional materials:

If you want to bring your own fabric: please bring two fat quarters or 1/2y stable woven fabric such as quilting cotton or linen.


Sincere Studio will provide:

All materials, tools, and machines needed


If you're bringing your own machine...

  • It must be in working order! If you do not know if it works, please take it to a sewing repair shop (Montavilla Sewing Center for example) and have it looked over. There will not be enough time during class for instructors to diagnose and fix machines that are not ready to go. If your machine is not in working order, you may be moved to a studio machine at the instructor's discretion

  • Please arrive 10 minutes early so instructors can look over the machine and familiarize themselves with it

  • Bring the owners manual! Especially for older machines. If you don't have it, please do a search for it online and ideally print out the sections relating to setting it up.

Rescheduling and Cancellation policy

Please note that we cannot provide exceptions to our cancellation policy even in the case of illness or emergencies. Thank you for your understanding.


For 1 and 2 session classes:

24 or less after booking: full refund

10 days or more before the start of the class: One time reschedule or class credit

Less than 10 days before the start of the class: no reschedule, class credit, or refund


For 2 or more session classes:

24 or less after booking: full refund

14 days or more before the start of the class: One time reschedule or class credit

Less than 14 days before the start of the class: no reschedule, class credit, or refund
