Open Studio Hours

Need to use a sewing machine or looking for some space to lay out and cut a pattern? Join us for Open Studio Hours!

 

Open studio hours allow sewists to come in and use tools, equipment, and thread in the studio for personal projects!

Guidelines

Taking Intro to Sewing* is required to attend Open Studio Hours. *(or having the equivalent skill level). Sewing machine instruction is not provided.

Open Studio Hours are independent work time. No instruction or project is provided.

 

Sewists must be familiar and comfortable setting up and using any tools, equipment, or machines during their appointment.

 

Staff will not be able to assist with projects or equipment. If you have not used a sewing machine before, we recommend taking our intro to sewing class first :)

 

To use a serger, you must complete Intro to Sergers at Sincere Studio first. If you know how to use a serger and would like to be approved to use a serger during Open Studio Hours, please email frances@sincerestudiopdx.org to set up a skills test.

Machines

  • Brother sewing machines (drop-in bobbin, modern machines) w/ assorted presser feet

  • Juki MO-654DE sergers (Completing Intro to Sergers is required to use our sergers during open sew times. To get approved to use a serger during open sew times without taking Intro to Sergers, please email Frances to set up a skills test at Frances@sincerestudiopdx.org)

  • Juki MCS-1500 coverstitch machine (to use this machine you must be comfortable using it fully independently. Staff will not be able to help with threading, usage, or troubleshooting.)
