New cancellation/reschedule policy starting July 1, 2026
Starting July 1, 2026, our cancellation policy will be changing, requiring 10 days notice for a reschedule/class credit, and two weeks notice for classes longer than two sessions. After that we cannot provide reschedules, class credits, or refunds even in the case of illness or emergencies. This will apply to bookings made on or after July 1, 2026. Volunteers needed for Good in the Hood festival!
Sincere Studio will be tabling at Good in the Hood festival, a yearly festival in the Eliot neighborhood that works to promote "unity in the community"! We'll be hosting a tie-dye station for festival goers, as well as talking to community members about Sincere Studio. Tasks will include setting up the table/tie dye station, greeting participants and assisting them with their tie dye creations, and taking the tie dye station down/bringing it inside. Intro to Sewing Class with ASL Interpretation
$15, Saturday July 17, 11am-1:30pm more info/sign up We're teaming up with ASL interpreter Dawn to bring Intro to Sewing to our deaf/HOH community members! During this class, you'll learn to set up a sewing machine then use it to make a tote bag. No experience necessary! All tools, materials, and machines are provided. Thanks to a grant from the Multnomah County Cultural Coalition, we are able to offer this class at our Community Access price of $15! Thanks MCCC!

Now offering kids sewing classes!
Sincere Studio is excited to share that we are now offering kids sewing and needlecraft classes! Instructors Vivien and Aliya are seasoned sewists with experience teaching and creating sewing curriculum for kids and teens. They've developed classes to introduce kids to using a sewing machine safely and successfully through creating a project. Our Spring Fabric & Yarn Swap recap!
Thank you to everyone who attended our Spring Fabric and Yarn Swap! Over 250 people came to swap materials! In addition to the swap, we also were able to recycle 73 garbage bags of fabric scraps through our partnership with Just Porch It! We want to extend a big thank you to our volunteers who made this event possible as well as to Vicky from Evergreen Sewing Repair and Resale who provided FREE sewing machine troubleshooting to our community. Spring Classes are Live!!
Spring classes are now open for signup! Thanks to funding from the Multnomah County Cultural Coalition, we're able to offer TWO $15 Community Intro to Sewing classes this quarter and are sew grateful! Check out a full list of classes here

Free meeting space for activist/organizing groups
Sincere Studio is offering free studio space rentals for justice-oriented groups in an effort to support and uplift the work being done around us. Requests for space rentals are subject to studio availability. We may not be able to accommodate all requests. Filling out a request form is not a guarantee that you'll be able to use our space. Grant from RACC awarded
We are grateful to have been awarded a $3000 grant from the Regional Arts and Culture Council and the City of Portland's Office of Arts and Culture! The Portland Arts Project grant will be used to do four protest banner-making classes and host a gallery show event to showcase the banners. Keep an eye out for these classes coming soon!

Grant awarded from Betty Lou Roberts Fund of the Oregon Community Foundation!
We are excited to share that we've received a grant from the Betty Lou Roberts Fund of Oregon Community Foundation in the amount of $10,000! This grant will go towards a remodel of our second studio room, including building a door between that room and the main studio space. We'll be starting that remodel process in the Spring with any big construction happening in the summer. We'll be showcasing the new studio space with an open house in the Fall!

Founder Frances Andonopoulos wins Skidmore Prize
Founder and executive director of Sincere Studio, Frances Andonopoulos, has won a Skidmore Prize. Each year, four Portland non-profit professionals under the age of 35 are awarded this prize in recognition of their contributions to our community through their work for local nonprofits.
