New cancellation/reschedule policy starting July 1, 2026

Starting July 1, 2026, our cancellation policy will be changing, requiring 10 days notice for a reschedule/class credit, and two weeks notice for classes longer than two sessions. After that we cannot provide reschedules, class credits, or refunds even in the case of illness or emergencies. This will apply to bookings made on or after July 1, 2026.
In the spirit of transparency, we're sharing why this change is needed.
Sincere Studio is unfortunately losing $13,000-$18,000 a year on class credits/reschedules. This is about 10% of our annual budget and we can’t sustain it anymore.
We are a nonprofit organization, however, that doesn’t mean we automatically receive money from the government to stay open. We rely on class fees, donations, and grants to help us bring low cost, free, and sliding scale classes, clubs, and events to our community.
So how are class credits/reschedules causing us to lose money when we're not actually returning any money?
Much of the time, reschedules/class credits hurt us just as much as providing a full refund because we almost never fill the empty spot. There’s simply not enough time between the cancellation and the class, so the spot goes empty, causing us to lose that money.
We receive between 3 and 5 reschedule requests per week on average, many happening less than 48hrs before the start of the class. When you consider that the cost of our most popular class is $95, well... it’s a difficult math pill to swallow.
Up until now, we’ve been providing exceptions to our cancellation policy for illness or emergencies however it’s not sustainable anymore.
We want to survive as a community space. We want to pay our staff a living wage. We need your help to make this possible.
If you sign up for a class with us, we ask that you think of it like concert tickets. If you can’t make it for whatever reason, consider giving your spot to a friend. Class registrations are always transferable, just let us know by emailing us.
We love our community SEW much and want to stay open for you. We don’t want to increase our class fees or take away things like sliding scale or free events.
So we are asking that our community shows up for us so we can stop hemorrhaging money in this way.
Community spaces are hard to operate under capitalism. Trust us when we say, this is NOT how we would prefer to do things. However, we’re doing what we think is best to keep our doors open.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
xoxo
