Topics covered:
Sewing machine parts and terms
Setting up a sewing machine including winding a bobbin
If you're bringing your own machine...
It must be in working order! If you do not know if it works, please take it to a sewing repair shop (Montavilla Sewing Center for example) and have it looked over. There will not be enough time during class for instructors to diagnose and fix machines that are not ready to go. If your machine is not in working order, you may be moved to a studio machine at the instructor's discretion
Please arrive 10 minutes early so instructors can look over the machine and familiarize themselves with it
Bring the owners manual! Especially for older machines. If you don't have it, please do a search for it online and ideally print out the sections relating to setting it up.
Optional materials:
If you want to bring your own fabric: please bring four pieces of woven (non-stretchy) fabric that are roughly 16”x18” (Two pieces will become the inside of the bag and two will become the outside). We will cut it down to the actual dimensions for you during the class.
