About the event

Join us for our first event in partnership with Portland TextileX Month!

Stitching Stories: a Community Quilt Workshop part 1 will consist of community members coming together with their own textile pieces to create a quilt representing each piece of our community. We encourage participants to consider bringing decorated textiles that represent or are aligned with the theme of this year's PTXM, "Origin Stories."

More from PTXM

"What was the spark—real or imagined—that infused your project, body of work, business, or other creation with life and energy? Amid the collective challenges we now face, which stories, journeys, spaces, gatherings, teachings, and solutions are crucial to carry us forward?"

Guidelines

  • no sewing experience required!
  • bring a textile to add to our quilt (you won't be getting this back so make sure it's something you can part with!)
  • textiles must be no larger than 16"x16" and are preferably a non-stretchy fabric
  • participants are encouraged to decorate their textile prior to the event with materials like paint, sequins, buttons etc.
  • plain, undecorated textiles are great too!
  • leave a 1/2" border around the perimeter that is clear of any decoration materials (so we can sew it into the quilt!)
