Learn to sew

...from the very beginning!

Sincere Studio is known for our Intro to Sewing series. We've developed and refined these beginner classes over hundreds of classes with thousands of students. While skill-building is important, our main focus is creating an environment that feels warm, friendly, encouraging, and empowering. Whether you've never touched a sewing machine or you want to dust off those junior high home ec skills, these classes are for you! Curriculum and instruction are centered around the beginner sewist, meaning lots of support, demonstrations, and room to make mistakes.

Each class teaches skills through project-based learning. You'll leave class with a usable project in addition to the pride of learning a new thing.

Class information

If you're bringing your own machine...

  • It must be in working order. If you do not know if it works, please take it to a sewing repair shop (Montavilla Sewing Center for example) and have it looked over. There will not be enough time during class for instructors to diagnose and fix machines that are not ready to go. If your machine is not in working order, you may be moved to a studio machine at the instructor's discretion

  • Please arrive 10 minutes early so instructors can look over the machine and familiarize themselves with it

  • Bring the owners manual! Especially for older machines. If you don't have it, please do a search for it online and ideally print out the sections relating to setting it up.

If you want to bring your own fabric: please bring four pieces of woven (non-stretchy) fabric that are roughly 16”x18” (Two pieces will become the inside of the bag and two will become the outside). We will cut it down to the actual dimensions for you during the class.
